这部电影的亮点不仅在于华丽的阵容。三位一线明星每人都有独演一出戏的实力，合在一起的爆发力自不待言。雷德福的导演和波特曼的配乐也相得益彰，尤其是后者的出现让电影的每段转折每段高潮都带上了《总有骄阳》的韵味。然而谁也没有想到2000年底上映后，此片前期投入的六千万美元几乎折损一半，最终以惨淡的三千八百万票房告终。
在票房失利的背后，发行公司难辞市场推广不利的咎责，而究其推广失利的一个重要的祸因，是被人抓住了把柄。这个把柄正出在威尔•斯密斯扮演的贝加•凡斯身上，片中对这个拥有说不清道不明神力的黑人的描摹，引起了媒体的非议。他们认为导演有意将非裔同胞刻画成侍奉白人走向成功的奴仆，于是这部电影亦成了黑人团体中争相驳斥的对象。
电影作品中本不该有种族主义的话语，在一些传奇剧的背景下，谁当法力无边的神，谁做肉眼凡胎的人，借的都是创作者的一时之兴。偏偏有看过几部电影的好事者，给当了几次神的黑人朋友贴上一个商标，名曰：神奇黑奴。这标签一贴，但凡观众再看到会魔法的黑人就要对号入座，这个黑人当的是上帝之类的全能之神倒也算了（比如摩根•弗里曼的《冒牌天神》），如果屈尊当了白人手下听差的，名字还跟乞丐（Beggar）有点像，那么产生代人感的朋友马上产生受辱的念头。
其实，早在《重返荣耀》还是小说的时候，原作者即表示过他想借一部写高尔夫的小说，向现代人介绍印度教的重要典籍《薄伽梵歌》，贝加•凡斯（Bagger Vance）的名字正是由《薄伽梵歌》的英文名（Bhagavad Gita）变形而出，而贝加的字母组合也绝非乞丐的暗示，反倒可作装袋工解。
《薄伽梵歌》是古梵语写就的印度史诗，记述了俱卢之战前，刹帝利王子阿朱那同黑天在战场上的对话。在对话中阿朱那表示了敌方阵营中有自己亲友因而不想战斗的想法，而黑天则劝导在既存的社会制度下，每个人应当毫无私心的尽其所能，并全身心地皈依神。
马特•戴蒙扮演的朱诺即是阿朱那在小说和电影中的化身，从战场回归后他原想弃绝原先的尘世诉求，在酒精中放逐自己，而贝加•凡斯的出现坚定了他全力投入比赛的决心，更引导他进入了“物我两忘，天人合一”的境界。片中被拉近的远景球场、拂动的小草等等布景都极佳地诠释了这种摒弃了欲望的“瑜珈境界”。
作者让贝加•凡斯带着黑人肤色出现在剧中也是有寓意的。“薄伽梵”在梵语中有神的意思，而在佛教中为佛之尊称。出现在《薄伽梵歌》中的神名叫黑天，梵文（कृष्ण）的意思就是黑色，因为黑色能吸收光谱中的七色，代表黑天具有吸引一切的能力。因此威尔•斯密斯的“黑”与黑天的“黑”在此表现为象征关系上的对应，与作者和导演是否在强调自身种族优越感并无干系。
也许《重返荣耀》只能怨自己生不逢时，抑或责怪身上承载的印度奥义太深。若是在今天这个脱口秀主持人可以随意拿奥巴马开刷的时代，一个神奇的小黑人恐怕不会再有能力击沉这样一部力作吧？
背景：20世纪初的美国，经济大萧条
地点：佐治亚（Georgia）的一个小镇的高尔夫球场
人物：马特达蒙演的退伍军人、前高尔夫神童；威尔史密斯演的神一样的球童；青梅竹马女友一名；热爱高尔夫的小鬼（就是画外音）；高尔夫球手若干。。。
情节:一度迷失自己的马特在突然出现的神奇球童威尔的指导下，在一场legendary的高尔夫球比赛中和两个巨牛逼的人打成了平局，并在比赛过程中重新找回自我和青梅竹马的女友。Finally，everybody lives happily forever。
总评：故事很一般，情节甚至有些牵强，好在镜头运用以及高尔夫球场的如画的风景使得这部电影的可看性还是很高，如果没事的话还是推荐看一看的。
不过我觉得电影的名字应该改一下

朱诺赢了.情理之中.在那样的时刻.让小镇为之欢腾.JUST A GAME.就像朱诺说的.这只是一场游戏.即使赢了它能带来太多太多好处.但它仍旧只是场游戏.有的时候人生也是这样.再大的风浪.也把它当作一场游戏.即使你落后了.一杆进洞还是有可能的.
每个人生命中都会遇到巴格·范斯那样的人.这样的人.教会你成长.教会你坚强.教会你独立.也许是你的家人.老师.朋友.爱人.也许只是擦身而过的人.但他们是你一生难忘的人.因为在你最迷茫的时候.他们带你走向希望.失去了任何一切.都可以活得更好.就像巴格·范斯说的那样.失去了双臂.可以用牙齿生活.不幸又失去了牙齿.那就靠脚站起来.你无法想象没有了双臂和牙齿的人还可以跳出美丽的舞蹈.然而有人做到了.
只是一场游戏.可以告诉我们许多.因为生活也不过是场游戏.而已.
Matt Damon主演的电影并不多.可能因为太喜欢他了.每一个角色都留下很深的印象.Bourne自然不用说.这样的人大家都喜欢.<心灵捕手>里的WILL HUNTING太过Perfect.我倒是最喜欢他饰演的Mr. Ripley.很独特.很清晰.【重返荣耀】中的演出还是很回归原本的.高尔夫这样的运动很适合Matt Damon吧.看他本人的样子就感觉什么时候都是年轻轻的.从来不用为什么事发愁.普通富人家的小孩.有着普通富家小少爷的背影.不过从来没给人感觉难以接近.看朱诺不要太着急.就把他当作Matt Damon.放100个心.因为相信他决不会出差错.
